The Problem:

Our industry should be as diverse as our audience. But it's not.

We can change that.

There was no malicious plan to build a staffing funnel excluding diverse talent, and yet, here we are:

We're not including diverse new talent.

The Opportunity:

Either because of lack of awareness or opportunity, young people from diverse backgrounds are not aspiring to careers in advertising. And while other cutting-edge industries are reaching out—we aren't.

The Solution:

Expose 1,000 creatively minded, diverse students to careers in advertising, and expose the advertising industry to them, for the sake of both our brighter futures.

We need 25 agencies to raise their hands to connect with 40 students each.

The 25Forty Programs

There are two ways agencies can partner with local high schools (or leverage existing school relationships):

25Forty
Speaker Series

A mentorship program in which agencies commit to a series of 4-5 speaking engagements at the partner school with the goal of establishing mentorship relationships with students.

25Forty
Creative Program

A broader-scale program in which agencies partner with a local creative high school to execute a creative campaign to be entered into the 25Forty Creative Showcase.

Our Goal:

To expose diverse students to various aspects of the advertising industry through a simple, low-cost option with a small agency time commitment.

How Do You Participate?

Agency identifies a diverse high school within their community to partner with.

Agency coordinates with school faculty to lead 4-5 sessions in which agency employees in a variety of roles speak with students about advertising and the opportunities it provides.

**To quantify success metrics, each agency must document their 40 participants by name and picture, and must obtain releases signed by participants and their guardians. Additionally, participants of the program are expected to complete a post-survey.

Our Goal:

To give diverse students a true deep dive into the advertising industry and give agencies a deeper connection to their community through joint work on a real campaign.

How Do You Participate?

  • Students create work that answers an interpretation of the creative brief under the guidance of agency teams.
  • Submission deadline: May 10, 2017
  • Work will be reviewed by a jury.
  • The top 3 projects will be featured as "winners."
  • All work is showcased via our press partners. Winners are invited to speak on a four-person panel with a curated presentation including a keynote, a video, and scripted questions.
